Michigan Zero Waste Association

The Michigan Zero Waste Association (MZWA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable waste management practices throughout the state of Michigan. Our mission is to reduce waste and increase recycling and composting in Michigan communities, businesses, and organizations. We strive to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for Michigan by promoting the use of reusable packaging materials, such as pallets, boxes, and IBC totes, and by working with major cities like Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor to develop and implement sustainable waste management programs. We believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for Michigan, where waste is minimized and resources are conserved for future generations.

Zero Waste CA

“Reducing waste isn’t just about cleaning up our environment, it’s about creating a sustainable future for Michigan and its communities.”

The Michigan Zero Waste Association (MZWA) has specific goals for each major city in Michigan. In Detroit, our goal is to increase recycling and composting rates by working with community organizations and local businesses to promote sustainable waste management practices. In Grand Rapids, we aim to promote the use of reusable packaging materials and work with the city to develop and implement a comprehensive waste reduction plan. In Ann Arbor, we plan to collaborate with the University of Michigan to increase recycling and composting on campus, and to educate students, staff, and faculty about the importance of sustainable waste management. Additionally, we are working with other major cities in Michigan such as Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Flint to achieve similar goals and promote sustainable waste management practices throughout the state.
